School Closure and Emergency Provision for Keyworkers
Dear Parents/ Carers,
Further to the Government announcement yesterday, our schools will close tomorrow (Friday 20th March 2020) for the majority of our pupils, until further notice. Our schools have already prepared resources that will be sent home with pupils. We will continue to keep you up to date with any information that we receive.
As a Trust we will be supporting the response to Covid-19 by the Government by providing emergency provision for those eligible. To allow us to make the required arrangements, we ask for families to respond as a matter of urgency.
The Government has asked for schools to offer emergency provision for certain groups of young people, where no alternative childcare arrangements can be made. Currently, we do not know the exact criteria for eligibility, however we anticipate that this provision will be available for the following pupils. As soon as the Cabinet Office release details we will provide these details to parents / carers.
- Children where both parents /carers are key workers. (NHS, Police, Fire and Ambulance services, armed forced, social care, town planners, teachers and specified delivery drivers)
- Children with EHCP’s
- Children with an allocated social worker
We will clarify the exact arrangements of the provision once we receive further information from the cabinet office. The provision will be emergency childcare and will not involve normal teaching, currently we anticipate this provision to be Monday - Friday 8.30am until 3.30pm. Staff will be aware of any additional pupils needs, such as EHCP requirements, however there will be no individual 1:1 support provided.
If you think that you are eligible for this emergency provision, and no alternative childcare arrangements can be made, please send the following details to email@example.com as a matter of urgency and no later than 6pm on 19th March 2020.
- Parent/ Carers name and 2 contact phone numbers
- Child’s Name, School and Year Group
- Employment details and the exact nature of your key role (for example A&E Nurse, employer Basildon Hospital, or Delivery Driver for Asda)
The Trust will provide details of arrangements for those pupils who access Free School Meals, and contact these families individually. These pupils should not attend school unless accessing the emergency provision highlighted above.
We ask that parents / carers only contact school offices in the event of an emergency, to enable us to ensure that we are able to provide the provision required for all of our pupils and staff.
We thank you for your continued support in this matter. We are aware the volume of information and the pace of decisions may be overwhelming, we will provide updates as soon as we receive them.
Again I would like to thank you for your continued support
Mr T Parfett
Chief Executive Officer
